The French government is waging an "unambiguous fight" against anti-Semitism, according to Minister Aurore Bergé.

"The French government's fight against anti-Semitism is unambiguous," Bergé said on Europe 1-CNews. "The issue is too serious. It is too important, in my opinion, to be taken to task in diplomatic matters."
US Ambassador to France Charles Kushner was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on Monday after criticism that angered Paris over President Emmanuel Macron's "lack of sufficient action" against anti-Semitism.
In a letter addressed to the head of state obtained by AFP on Sunday, the ambassador expressed "his deep concern at the surge in anti-Semitism in France and the lack of sufficient action by (his) government to combat it" , echoing the criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"A form of atmospheric anti-Semitism"Faced with these criticisms, Ms. Bergé insisted on Monday on her "lucid" attitude towards the reality of anti-Semitism.
" Every day, there are reports of anti-Semitic acts and this summer in particular, I find that we have reached thresholds that are absolutely intolerable, as if we were getting used to the idea that there could be a form of atmospheric anti-Semitism," she said.
"Because here, we prohibit holidaymakers from entering a place because they are Israeli, because there, we exclude young French people from a commercial flight..." , she illustrated, while the manager of a leisure park has just been indicted for having refused access to his site to a group of 150 young Israelis.
"There is a form of atmospheric anti-Semitism that is taking hold and is taking hold in all our democracies and that we are fighting against," said Ms. Bergé.
"No country can give lessons and all must review their copy," reacted Patrick Klugman, president of the French committee for Yad Vashem, on X.
"Whatever France's sometimes questionable positions regarding Israel, the public authorities are taking constant, incontestable and resolute action against anti-Semitism ," he added.
The honorary president of the Licra, Alain Jakubowicz, also stated on Monday on BFMTV and RMC that it is "not up to the USA to lecture France on the subject" . According to the lawyer, however, "we have clearly witnessed an anti-Semitic summer, with a new fact every day" .
